The teaching is based on the respect of each individual ; this means that I adapt the postures according to everyone's possibilities and capacities.
Each postures are guided with information on the breathing. Breathing awareness is a very important point in the classes : with no breath there is no life...let's learn to have a good breathing to have a good life !
Usually the classes start with work on the postures followed by relaxation then conscious breathing (pranayama) and end up with a time to listen... to meditate.
My aims during the classes :
- to bring physical and breathing well-being,
- to improve concentration,
- to develop abilities to listen to your inner-self.

Dr. Matthew Clark is currently a Research Associate at the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London), where, from 2002 to 2004, he taught courses on Hinduism.
Since 1990, he has been practising Ashtanga Yoga, and has periodically taught yoga classes in London and Brighton (U.K). He has spent around ten years in India and has travelled extensively throughout the subcontinent.
His publications include articles and a full-length monograph on a sect of South Asian renunciates (‘sadhus’), ‘The Dasanami-Samnyasis: The Integration of Ascetic Lineages into an Order’ (Leiden/Boston: E. J. Brill, 2006).
In 2008, he designed ten on-line research units on philosophy and religions for British A-Level (high school) students, for Villiers Park Educational Trust; and also released an album of pop/jazz, ‘Swish It’s Everywhere by Mahabongo’, on mahabongo.com.
